Wild Haven Farm is nestled on a gentle hillside on the crest of Crowley
Ridge in southeast Missouri. We raise registered Austrian Haflinger
horses, and still have a few old friends of other breeds living on our
farm as well. We specialize in raising quality Haflingers
suitable for breeding and showing at the National level. Our
consistent daily handling of our foals using gentle, kind training methods
- and lots of love - also assures that our horses will grow into outstanding family
friends.
Our farm, which is located on a tract of
almost nine hundred acres, is a mix of pastures and hay fields, oak and
hickory forests, and rolling native warm-season prairie grass fields
interspersed with 8 ponds of various sizes. Wildlife is abundant at
Wild Haven, hence the name of our farm. We manage our farm for
wildlife as well as for horses, and resident wildlife populations include
abundant white-tailed deer, wild turkey, bobcat, bobwhite quail,
waterfowl, great-horned, barn, long-eared, short-eared, and screech owls, a variety of hawk
species, and many small wildlife species such as coyote, fox, raccoon,
opossum, beaver, muskrat, mink and river otter. Our ponds are home to bass,
bluegill, channel catfish, and crappie, and are frequently visited by
hungry great blue herons, ring-necked ducks, mallards, wood ducks, and
teal. We welcome all inquires, and visitors are
welcome by appointment.
